State Laws Mandating or Promoting Training Programs for Alcohol Servers and Establishment Managers: an Assessment of Statutory and Administrative Procedures
Mosher JF, Toomey TL, Good C, Harwood E and Wagenaar AC. Journal of Public Health Policy, 23(1): 90-113, 2002.
Although research findings on Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training programs are mixed and few high-quality training programs exist, many states have enacted server training laws in an effort to reduce alcohol-related problems. We conducted a qualitative analysis of state RBS laws to determine how effective the laws are in mandating or encouraging high-quality RBS programs that have the potential for reducing alcohol-related problems. Results of this study may inform future legislative activity.
